It’s been more than a few weeks since you all were here. (We miss you.) Looking through all the great photos we got of the event, it can’t be understated: Thank you so much for joining us (whether riding, volunteering, or both) for the second annual Ride the Willapa!

Thanks to you, we greatly increased the exposure of the Willapa Hills Trail, meaning it will be that much easier for Washington State Parks to receive grant awards that will keep the work going to complete our great trail all the way to the coast. Can you imagine it?? Even by just next year’s event (Save the Date!) we will have new trail to explore and new bridges to marvel at. It is an exciting time to be on your bike.

Double the Friends, Double the Fun

Family finishing RTW2017 together

Did you know that we just about doubled our event attendance from last year? WOW!! We’ve said it before, but we will say it again and again – we are so thankful you joined us on that SUPER hot weekend. Despite the heat, it was still a great time. The weekend also provided us who plan Ride the Willapa a great learning opportunity, giving us lots of ideas of how to make next year’s event even better.

Why We’ve Been Quiet Lately

You may have noticed that there hasn’t been as much communication from us, on social media or through this blog. That has largely been because so many of us either volunteer to support or ride the Seattle to Portland bike ride, and also are involved in other local tourism efforts (summer is definitely the busy season). Now that the 2017 STP is in the books (congrats Chris and Kyle on your 1-day finish!!) and summer is almost over (sad), you’ll start to see a little more coming from us.

What lies ahead

We are already starting to brainstorm about next year’s Ride the Willapa. As is the case with any big event, every time is a learning experience, but that is especially true when you are just starting out (like us). I think we can all agree that Ride the Willapa is a great, well-supported ride, but let’s be honest – we are still in our infancy. We are still learning a lot about what will make for the best experience for all the families that choose to start off their summer with us. This is where we hope you’ll share with us your experience.

This is YOUR

With that being said, we’d love to hear what your Willapa experience was like! What was your favorite part? What could you have done without (other than the heat!), what do you think we could focus on more next year? No idea is too big or small for us. We are seriously all ears. This event would not be possible without your support and we want to hear from you!
