About Pe Ell
Pe Ell (pronounced “P” Elle), the westernmost community in Lewis County, spent its heyday as an important stop on the Northern Pacific Railway. Home to many families who have been in the area for generations, Pe Ell once held a strategic spot in the logging industry, which has quieted down significantly in recent decades. Although forestry is still a primary means of income for many local residents, the advantageous location of the Willapa Hills Trail is giving Pe Ell an economic rebirth – thanks large in part by tourism activities (such as Ride the Willapa).
Pe Ell is ready to roll out the welcome mat to visitors of their “Village” – on the very same Northern Pacific Railway line – but this time human-powered instead of by locomotive. Although it is open to anyone who would like to attend, riders will be greeted to the festival with a photo op with their riding team.
